The diplomat was accompanied by the Second Secretary of the diplomatic mission of Malaysia in Chile, Azizul Zekri.

President Zolezzi expressed his gratitude for the visit and said that this is the beginning of a closer educational cooperation “We are interested in establishing relationships with that country; therefore, we are willing to establish agreements, precisely now, when Chile has had a deep educational change,” he added.

Dr Zolezzi explained that our corporation is highly interested in Asia. For this reason, Universidad de Santiago de Chile developed the Korean Study Center at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IDEA, in
Spanish).

He added that, if the cooperation agreement becomes a reality, the interest in doing exchanges with that continent will be stronger.

For his part, Ambassador Rameez said that he would like to become a link between our university and a prestigious educational institution at his country, “to build a relation and generate an exchange network in a common area of interest to benefit both institutions.”

He highlighted the sound academic background, the contribution of the research work and the permanent outreach activities of Universidad de Santiago that position our institution among the best universities of our country, all facts that support his interest in reaching this agreement.

He also stressed the high level that Universidad de Santiago has reached in fields like science, engineering, technology, medicine and economics.

“I would like to develop a study program, for which we agreed to compare together different programs and find similar ones in a higher education institution in Malaysia, so that it can work together with
this university (Universidad de Santiago),” he concluded.
