The University of Santiago de Chile is an autonomous public state higher education institution with a century-old tradition linked to the country’s progress.
The organization has unipersonal and collegiate authorities. Unipersonal authorities include the Rector, the Executive Director of the Rector’s Office, the Secretary General, the Pro-Rector, the Vice-Rectors, the University Comptroller, the Dean of each Faculty, the Directors of Schools, Programs, and Departments. Collegiate authorities are the Board of Directors, the Academic Council, and the Councils of Faculties, Schools, Programs, and Departments.
Higher Council

The Higher Council is the highest collegiate body of the University. It is responsible for defining the institution's general development policy and strategic decisions, ensuring their compliance with the University's mission, principles, and functions.

General Secretariat

The General Secretariat is a senior management body that acts as the University's Minister of Faith, with custody of all records and archives containing the institutional life of the Corporation. University Council

The University Council is the collegiate body representing the university community, responsible for making decisions on matters relating to the academic and institutional activities of the University. It is a senior body with a tripartite and joint composition that forms part of the University's governance. It replaced the Academic Council.

University Comptroller's Office

The University Comptroller's Office, headed by Carolina Pincheira Sepúlveda (s), is also part of the operational structure of the University. Its objectives include monitoring the legality of the actions of the authorities and overseeing the income and use of funds. Pro-Rector’s Office

As the largest unit within the Central Government, the Pro-Rector's Office provides direct support to the Rector on internal and external matters, with a primary focus on institutional management.
This office ensures the coordination of operational and mission-related tasks as outlined in the Institutional Strategic Plan. It prioritizes strategic and organizational development through continuous collaboration with the various vice-rectors and directors under its purview. Vice-Rector's Office for Academic Affairs (VRA)

Directed by Dr. Luis Quezada Llanca, its function is to coordinate and supervise all academic activity of the University, while studying and proposing to the Rector the policies of undergraduate and graduate teaching, extension, teaching equipment, and libraries of the Institution, ensuring compliance with them in the faculties. Vice-Rector's Office for Research, Innovation and Creation (VRIIC)

Headed by Dr. Andrea Mahn Osses, this office is dedicated to managing and promoting knowledge generation. Its primary objective is to position the University of Santiago de Chile as a national leader in research, development, and innovation across all disciplines. Vice-Rector’s Office for Finances and Logistics

Led by Dr. Javier Espinosa Brito, the Vice Rector's Office for Finance and Logistics (VRIFYL) designs, implements, and supervises the institution’s administrative management, prioritizing the community’s well-being. By utilizing efficient information systems aligned with institutional needs, this office manages financial resources and physical assets to support sustainable development. Responsibilities include formulating revenue policies, managing finances, overseeing procurement (excluding construction and research), processing staff incentives and appointments, paying salaries, and administering the Solidarity Fund. Vice-Rector’s Office for Quality of Life, Gender, Equity, and Diversity

Headed by Dr. Rocío Núñez Carrasco, the responsibilities of VICAVIGED include coordinating and developing policies to maintain, enhance, and promote the quality of life of individuals; ensuring that any conduct that violates the rights and dignity of members of the university community is prevented; promoting equity and well-being; and implementing services that provide comprehensive care with a focus on gender, equity, and respect for diversity.
