Dr. Juan Pablo García Huidobro received a medal in recognition of his research career, his work in forming undergraduate and graduate students, and his contribution to academia.

The Annual Congress of the Pharmacological Society is a space whose purpose is to promote scientific exchange, update evidence, and foster collaborations that drive research in pharmacology.

In this context, and before the closing conference, the event organizers decided to recognize Dr. Juan Pablo García Huidobro, an academic from the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology, for his role in training undergraduate and graduate students, his career as a researcher, “and above all for his influence on many academics who now belong to the Pharmacological Society.”

"For me, it is a gift, and I am very grateful. I do what I love, and all that's left is to keep working, doing experimental pharmacology as we do here with pharmaceutical chemists. It's a very interesting and entertaining challenge,“ said the professor about the distinction, which, he admits, ”took him completely by surprise"—received during the XLVI Annual Congress of the Chilean Society of Pharmacology held at the Universidad Austral in Valdivia.

“I am one of the oldest, but I enjoy being with young people. You rejuvenate yourself by asking questions and doing interesting things,” added the researcher from the University of Santiago de Chile.

The award was presented before his talk entitled “From Occupation Theory to Biased Signaling, 100 Years of Pharmacology Thinking and Experimentation,” which closed the last day of the Congress.

The scientific event included activities such as symposiums, plenary lectures by prominent national and international speakers, oral presentations, and poster sessions on topics related to inflammation, aging, neuroimmunomodulation, cancer pharmacology, mitochondrial metabolism, obesity, and emerging therapeutic opportunities, as well as new drug discovery strategies for neurodegenerative diseases.
